COMPANY HISTORY:
Our business began in 1978 as A.G. Smith Fiberglass Repair.
This brilliant idea came from Gene and Alice Smith. Gene and Alice owned a
pool business and fiberglass bathtubs were becoming the most popular tub for
new construction and remodeling. Mr. Smith knew about fiberglass pools and
acquired the knowledge to repair fiberglass bathtubs. A.G. Smith was the
first bathtub repair business in the Midwest, and soon thereafter, Mr. and
Mrs. Smith sold their pool business.
About 1995, Gene's hands were becoming crippled by
arthritis and he was having trouble performing the intricate work needed for
bathtub repairs. His grandson, Brad, was at his house and heard him decline
work because of his hands. Brad chose to help his grandfather on his days
off, and learn all that he could from his grandfather's experience.
In 1999, Gene decided that his business should expand to
include bathtub refinishing. Brad was excited to learn this new aspect of
saving an old bathtub and expanding the business. Gene found a place to
train in Dallas, Texas, and he and Brad were going to train together, but
that would never be.
Early 2000, Gene passed away unexpectedly. At this time,
Brad and his wife, Kimberley, were certain this was the path they were to
take. Within two weeks, Brad and Kim were in Texas getting specialized in
bathtub refinishing.
Grandpa would sure be amazed at what his knowledge and his
ideas have become. With Brad's bathtub repair and color matching training,
background in construction and management, along with Kim's Accounting
Degree and business experience, the business has grown to unknown
proportions.
